Client: Our client is a highly respected civil engineering firm, established in 1999 and recognized among NJBIZ's Top 25 Engineering Firms. With a team of experienced engineers and inspectors, the firm has played a key role in delivering landmark transportation projects across New York and New Jersey.
Description: Immediate need for an Assistant Resident Engineer to act as the day-to-day Construction Manager for assigned projects at Kennedy Airport, reporting directly to the Resident Engineer.
Responsibilities:
Manage the scope of work, scheduling, contractor’s procedures, contracts, and project-related documentation
Work will generally pertain to taxiway/runway paving, lighting, building improvements, civil site work, utility upgrades, and maintenance of traffic.
Assist the Resident Engineer in coordinating operating personnel, and others to ensure work progresses efficiently.
Develop a thorough understanding of the contract documents to assist the Resident Engineer in interpreting and applying contract provisions.
Advise the Resident Engineer on contract disputes and assist at resolving issues.
Supervise and mentor field staff.
Review contractor submittals and RFI’s.
Review and approve daily field inspection reports.
Prepare extra work orders, change orders, and cost estimates.
Qualifications:
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience managing construction projects of varying sizes.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to maintain an airport security badge.
OSHA 30 REQUIRED.
Training in fall protection and confined space entry.
Ability to work nights and weekends if necessary.
Strong knowledge of construction management practices, contract administration, project documentation, and coordination with outside sources.
Education: BSCE - bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. PE license is desired but not required. ACI concrete special inspector certification desired but not required.
